It would seem Final Fantasy, easily one of the most anticipated games of next year, has received its first review score. Respected Japanese publication Famitsu has given the game a, wait for it… 39/40. The game just missed getting a perfect score, but unless you only purchase perfect games this score shouldn’t keep you from buying it on day one. Only three titles have received a perfect 40 from Famitsu, including Dragon Quest IX, New Super Mario Bros., and most recently Platinum Games’ spectacle fighter, Bayonetta.
For the reviewer who gave the game a 9/10, the reason behind the low, low score of 39/40 is because “There’s a few niggling issues like battle damage being difficult to see, and the screen being cluttered… I have a bit of resistance calling this an “RPG-like RPG” however.”
Final Fantasy XIII releases on March 9th 2010, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
