Aion, the new MMORPG from NCSoft, has only been out for a few months now and a mass banning is already taking place with around 16,000 players in the shadow of the banhammer.
According to NCSoft, the players in question are involved in all sorts of rule breaking, like spamming, botting, and selling gold. The list was apparently worked on over a whole week and a post on the official forums says that “Ban Hammer Claus just came to town.”
Should you be wrongfully banned, which is something that could happen when this much action is taken at once, an admin on the official Aion forums has posted a convenient little FAQ for you. If you were banned despite not breaking any rules, you’re encouraged to create a support ticket.
16,000 grimy rulebreakers (insert whistling noise). I’m saddened, but not surprised.
Aion is an MMORPG from Korean developers NCSoft, the same folks behind Lineage, City of Heroes, and the wonderful Guild Wars. Aion combines PvP and PvE action into something the developers call PvPvE, which is hard to say with a straight face. The game is currently holding a score of 77 on MetaCritic and a slightly better 79.05 on GameRankings. Be sure to check out our Aion review.
