Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is a shooting video game that is developed by Insomniac Games and published by SCEA for the Playstation 3. The game was released on October 23, 2007 in North America, November 9, 2007 in Europe and on November 11, 2007 in Australia.
Ratchet is a character in the game that lives on Veldin. He witnesses a robot crash near his home while he is in the process of building his spaceship. He decides to rescue this robot and gives him the name Clank. When Clank recovers, he shows Ratchet the ‘infobot’ device that contains a recording of Chairman Dreg of The Blarg race. Chairman Dreg is an inhabitant that lives on Quartu, Clank’s home planet. He is planning to destroy other planets by extracting large parts from them as a solution to the pollution problems and chaos on his home planet. All this is recorded on Clank’s infobot and Ratchet realizes that Dreg will destroy the whole planet if he continues with his plan. Clank is a part of a line of destructive robots that are being assembled; however, he happens to be an anomaly as he has a curious and sensitive nature. Clank needs help from Ratchet to locate Captain Qwark, the popular superhero, while Ratchet needs Clank to start his space ship that needs a robotic ignition system for it to work. Hence, the two strike a bargain and Clank agrees to help Ratchet with the space ship if he locates the hero. This is when the journey begins.
As they begin their quest, they are faced with challenges along the way, including Qwack, who is a Captain on the planet Rilgar. He appears to be trying to help them yet he leads them into a trap. Qwack is working for Dreg and releases a Blargian Snagglebeast to fight them. They manage to beat the beast in battle and go on to defeat Qwack in a space battle.
They finally find Dreg and they engage him in battle; however, Dreg creates a weapon called the Deplanetizer that he uses in an effort to fulfil his ultimate plan. New intentions unfold in Dreg’s plans but are defeated when Clank and Ratchet join forces to defeat him. In the end his planet is destroyed.
The game has very good graphics and has positive reviews. IGN awarded the game 9.2 out of 10.
