Name for PS3 Motion Controller

IGN reported today that John Riccitiello, CEO of EA, may well have spilled the beans on Sony’s unnamed project.

At the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference, Riccitiello disclosed the following when discussing pricing and innovation:

“In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace,”

When IGN tried to follow the remark Sony simply stated that “no official name” had been given and EA said that they were unable to confirm the accuracy of the remark.

Sony has been very quiet about the project since they showcased the project at E3 and many of us have been itching to find out more. Whilst it’s possible that Riccitillo simply misspoke, but who knows, Gem may well be the name set for Sony’s motion control project.
