Square Enix London announced today that the highly anticipated sequel, Just Cause 2, will be released in stores on March 23rd, 2010, in North America and March 26th, 2010, in Europe, Middle East, and Australasia.
The game will be set on the Asian tropical island, Panau, and boasts 1000KM of terrain, with a variety of unique areas including mountains, deserts, jungles and beaches.
Players will take control Rico Rodriguez as he attempts to track down his former mentor, Tom Sheldon, who has stolen millions in Agency cash and intel.
What appears to be the main feature in the game, is a grapple and parachute combination. This will allow players to grapple planes in flight, scale buildings and more.
“Just Cause 2 offers the freedom to explore and tackle the world in any way you choose”, said Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix London Studios. “The grapple and the parachute mechanic will change the way you play open-world games, allowing players to be in the air in seconds, tackling missions from above and using the aerial advantage. If you prefer to stay on solid ground, the choices offered by the grapple are limited only by your imagination.”
Just Cause 2 will be available for both 360 and PS3 under the EIDOS brand.
