MAG Will Not Be a PSN Download

At some point in time, gamers started wondering if MAG (Massive Action Game) would be a downloadable PSN title, like Warhawk and SOCOM: Confrontation. That question has been answered and the answer is a no.

Jeremy Dunham, the senior community manager for Sony’s Zipper Interactive, the developers become SOCOM and MAG, wrote the following on the Official PlayStation Blog:

“…it will be disc-based only. But trust us, the game is so huge when moving everything off-disc, your hard drive is secretly thanking us.”

According to Joystiq, the beta was riddled with huge data downloads that came with every game update. That’s all the more reason to give MAG a disc rather than a download.

MAG, an MMO shooter that will support online battles with up to 256 players, is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 3 on January 26th, 2010.

As much as I love smaller battles full of friends, I’m looking forward to the frantic mayhem of epic wars. Maybe I’ll see some of you on the battlefield?
