Attack of the Tech.

Attack of the Tech.

You may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but you sure as hell judge a gamer by their setup.

Back in the days of the Nintendo 64 and the Playstation one you could experience everything a game has to offer through a reasonably average television set. Oh my, how the world has changed.nvidia-9600

Modern gaming is all about high definition; how do I get the best visual experience? What is the best audio gear for my needs?  Current generation consoles offer displays ranging from archaic 50Hz televisions to full HD, 1080p resolutions  as well as catering for 5.1 Dolby surround sound or just your everyday 2.1 computer speakers. The huge range in capabilities means that the market entry is relatively cheap making it accessible to more and more people. However, games are designed to be compatible with the best equipment and as a result, those who are left with the basic equipment are missing out on some of the cooler features of the games.

With technology developing at the rate that it is, it becomes impossible for the average Joe to have the best equipment. Everyone has to find a settling point and make do with what they’ve got.

Personally, I play PC games and Xbox 360 through my 22″ monitor. I have shitty 2.1 logitech speakers but I just purchased a Plantronics Gamecom 777 headset which is 5.1 capable and makes for some fantastic PC gaming.

So what have you got Gamer Syndrome buddies?

What do you play? What do you play it on? What kind of audio do you use? Do you think that better technology makes for a better gaming experience?
