Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Footage

With Activison making so much noise about the price of the PlayStation 3, Infinity Ward ignores involvement and shows Multiplayer footage for Modern Warfare 2 for the first time.

With Activison showing no signs of silence, Infinity Ward tries to drown out the noise by showing the Internet for the first time Multiplayer footage for Modern Warfare 2 and a new feature known as “Customized Kill Streaks” The video also shows off some new weapons, obvious shine in graphics and a slightly improved HUD from the first game.

Infinity Ward has been keeping alot secret recently, and I thought that this footage would explain the new features that they were bragging about back at E3, however, the footage is very brief and although they show what a “customizable kill streak” is, they don’t explain it at all, so don’t expect to be filled in about the new features. Lately Infinity Ward have been pushing the wrong buttons by announcing the jaw dropping price for the standard game (£54.99) and the Prestige edition (£120.91) and have been losing alot of customers waiting for the game to arrive in stores, if they want to get their customers back, they might have to start showing what the game really has to offer, instead of just teasing us.

The game’s release is expected to be on November 10th 2009.

  1. I think that in order for Infinity Ward to re obtain their customers, they are going to have to release more footage and explain their new features.

  2. I don’t think they’ll have much trouble selling a bunch of copies. COD is a huge franchise. I can’t wait to find out what the customized kill streaks are, though.

  3. Now that I think about it, you’re right, they won’t have much trouble, but what I mean is that in order for them to win the hearts of the protesters, they are going to need to show the general public what the game is really capable of, thus explaining the price.

  4. I would like to say so because I want to see more myself, but I don’t think it will happen specifically to appease the protestors. From what I’ve read, it seems Activision is only raising the price in Britian. If that’s the case then they are likely plenty confident with how their approach will generate sales around the rest of the world. Whether or not it’s a good idea is debatable. I just can’t imagine Activision being overly concerned about a price increase in Britian hurting their overall sales.

  5. The European price for MW2 translates to around 90 USD, I believe. Did they announce whether all Activision Blizzard titles were going to get that price point, or just MW2 for now? While it sucks for European gamers, the dollar/Euro exchange rate is forcing publishers to do something about it or lose tons of money. Soon I would be expecting all high end 360 and PS3 titles to cost that much in Europe.

Either way, MW2 is so popular they could charge pretty much whatever they want and still sell millions. The multiplayer gameplay looks incredible, can’t wait to play it with my friends.

  6. Also, “customizable kill streak” refers to the choice of what bonus you get after a certain kill streak.

For example, in this video, you can see him choosing the AC-130 kill streak bonus, which it says you get for 11 kills. So if you want, after a 11 killstreak, you can call in an AC-130 for some fire support.

This means that there will be a whole bunch of different options for what you get after a killstreak, rather than always just getting the UAV, airstrike and helicopter as it was in COD4.

  7. Oh right, so you get to unlock a whole bunch for a certain streak, thus being able to choose the one that you prefer most, instead of everyone using artillery so many times that you forget who’s even firing the blasted things.

  8. That sound s like a much needed update to help take an already great multiplayer experience to the next level. I’ve always hoped that COD would allow players much more customization over their weapons. So far it doesn’t appear so with MW2, but we haven’t seen everything yet. Either way it will be a great game and worth the money.
