Has Sega hit the Jackpot?

Just today Sega launched what appears to be a teaser webpage, perhaps counting down to the revealing of their new project.  The page, which launched just days after this apparent teaser appeared from Sega Japan, is only a simple Flash creation displaying a tumbler filled with colored lottery-type balls.  Clicking on the lever in the display releases a series of balls that appear to be a timer counting down to something.  If this is the case, the time will expire the morning of July 21st at 10:00 EDT, which happens to be right before the start of Comic-Con.

No further details regarding what Sega may be unveiling have been released.

Let us know what you think Sega’s response to Jackpot will be before time runs out.

  1. That’s awesome. It’s great marketing because, just like we’re doing here, people will start talking about it. Everyone will tune in to see what the big news is, and it has to be big to have this kind of fanfare. I love a good mystery!

  2. hmmm yah interesting to say the least, ill definitly remember to come back thats for sure. this kind of marketing is probably most effective in this type of market, its definitly got me wondering whats going to happen.

  3. These kind of viral teaser things are very effective at getting publicity, I agree.

Problem is, what does Sega have that still holds interest in the market? Most gamers haven’t cared about Sonic or most of their other IPs for years and years. They’ve been going downhill since the Genesis, I would say.

  4. hmm.. Sega still makes the Sonic the hedgehog games but you may not have known that they do produce other hit games like Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and some other Anime titles like Bleach. I think they are still a major player in the games market.

  5. huh. Sega is probably one of the most coolest. I remember playing Sonic when I was younger. I was hooked on that. Anyway, their advertisement skill is sick-awesome. Their teasers create so much talk and gossips that people would want to know what the big deal is.
